Bumblebees & Ladybugs' Semi-Annual Children’s Consignment Sale offers great
incentives for volunteers – and a wide variety of times for moms to participate! You can choose to consign
and volunteer, or you can volunteer without bringing in a single item to sell.
Volunteers shop before the public or even consignors! A small investment of your time gets you in to shop early during the volunteer
presale. Are you a really competitive shopper? Volunteer two shifts or one extended six hour shift and earn the coveted Early
Bird shopping pass. You will get first dibs on the widest selection! Plus, consignors
who sign-up for two volunteering shifts will earn 5% more of their sales.

Each volunteer or consignor is given one pre-sale shopping pass. Spouses, friends,
& walking children may not shop early with you if they do not have a pass.
You may, however, volunteer for two shifts and choose between an extra volunteer
pre-sale shopping pass or the Early-bird pass. Please plan now for childcare!
Volunteering Options
Kearney, NE

Volunteering sign-up for Fall '08 is not yet open. Please check back at a later
date.
NEW! Flyer Distribution, (Sign up)
- Distribute flyers in your local town! Sign-up for a city (Kearney, North Platte,
Gothenburg/Lexington/Cozad, McCook, Grand Island, Hastings, Central City, Holdrege, or Broken Bow), print
20-25 advertising flyers in color off our website (white paper), then hang them
in appropriate locations around town two weeks before the sale (last day is March 24th) but the earlier the better! One flyer per location. Email Paula the business name & address of the locations where you post
the flyers. You must email Paula the locations to receive your volunteering pass
or any incentives. Only the above towns quality for this Kearney volunteering
option.
- These flyers should not be placed on public property like telephone poles, street
signs, or utility poles. Always ask before you place a flyer on any business'
bulletin board. If you have questions regarding where you may post signs please
give Paula a call at 308-340-8534. Be sure to take tape & thumb tacks with
you for posting on doors & bulletin boards!
Wednesday, April 9th (Sign up)
- 5 pm – 9 pm Set up tables and racks and check-in consignors from 7pm - 8pm (there
is a $10 fee for consignors checking in early). This shift is no longer an extended
shift...we always have everything set up by 9! Volunteers of this shift may check-in
their items after their shift for free.
Thursday, April 10th (Sign up)
- 8 am – 12 pm Drop-off (inspect items and check-in consignors)
- 12 pm - 4 pm Drop-off (inspect items and check-in consignors)
- 3:00 pm - 7:30 pm Check-out customers during the Early bird and Volunteer shopping
times. Because you will be working most of the pre-sale, volunteers who work
this shift will get a break to shop from 4 - 4:30 pm (Early Bird Sale!). Your
finds will then be run up after the sale ends for the night.
Friday, April 11th (Sign up)
- 8 am – 12 pm Check out customers/misc. help
- 12 pm– 4 pm Check out customers/misc. help
- 4 pm – 8 pm Check out customers/misc. help
Saturday, April 12th (Sign up)
- 8 am – 12 pm Set up/Check out customers.
- 12 pm – 4 pm Check out customers.
- 3 pm - 7 pm Tear down.
- 3 pm- 9 pm Tear down. This extended shift counts as two shifts = Early Bird pass plus 5% more of your consignor sales!
Other options: (Sign up)
- Have your big, strong husband/brother/dad help us 6 hours during tear-down. This
extended shift counts as two shifts = Early Bird pass plus 5% more of your consignor sales!
- Have a business donate three rolling clothing racks or hotel racks and bring
them to us Thursday morning by 8am and return them Thursday afternoon after 3pm.
These racks will be used by consignors to keep clothing looking nice while transporting
from vehicle to check-in. These racks must be professional quality. Most home clothing racks will not be sturdy enough
Pre-sale passes may be picked up from 8 am – 3 pm Thursday (if you consign you
can get your pass when you drop-off your items) or at the door. You must have
a pass to shop Thursday.
Spouses and friends may not shop with you. Each person must have a pass in order to shop. You may volunteer for two shifts
and choose between an extra volunteer pre-sale shopping pass or the Early-bird
pass. If you choose the extra pass you can shop with your best shopping buddy!
We ask that volunteers arrive 15 minutes before their shift begins. This will allow for time to get instructions and ask questions.
We ask that you do not bring your children with you when you volunteer or shop
the presale.
If you are consigning as well as volunteering please plan on coming early or
staying after your shift to check in your items. You will not be allowed to check-in
your items during your shift.
Volunteer No-Show Penalty
We understand that sometimes unexpected mishaps will not allow you to work the
shift you signed up for. However, if you are scheduled to volunteer and do not
show for your shift, your consigning percentage that you will receive will drop
to 40% (you will receive only 40% of your items that sell instead of 70% - 75%).
If you are a non-consigning volunteer, you will not be allowed to volunteer or
consign at the next sale.
If you have experienced an emergency that makes you unable to volunteer your shift, please call Paula at (308) 340-8534.
Please, DO NOT call if it is not an emergency. It is your responsibility to find a replacement to work your shift if you are
not able to come for non-emergency reasons.
